Mine for valuable resources from asteroids to develop your starbase

Assemble your space armada and set off to conquer and capture other starbases

Work together with your allies and wipe out all your foes on the map

Astro Conquest is a rather unique, browser-based space strategy game where you’ll get to set up your own empire in space. Assemble your armada so you can go forth and conquer other starbases. Join an alliance or create one of your own so you can work together with your allies to dominate the map and eventually the entire galaxy!

The gameplay in Astro Conquest is quite different than what you might be used to, and due to this, you will appreciate the game’s tutorial where you’ll learn how to game generally works. Once that’s done though, you’ll be able to manage your very own starbase.

Similar to most MMORTS games, you will be required to produce as much resources as you can and invest them into building up your space armada and base. However, resource production isn’t passive in this game. In Astro Conquest, you need to assign your single mining vessel (you can’t have more) to mine for one type of resource at a time. In other words, this means that the game places a lot of emphasis on capturing plenty of bases so you can produce a resource on each base.

The mining process takes up approximately 1 minute by default and once it’s up, you’ll need to assign the vessel again, which admittedly can get tedious very quickly. You can actually assign your vessel to mine for longer durations but you’ll need to have premium currency, titanium, to do so.

In fact, you’ll quickly realize that many of the more convenient parts of the game are all locked behind a “premium paywall”. Without titanium, you’ll need to spend a lot of time doing repetitive tasks just so you can get enough resources to build a fleet that’s worth something. This is an especially tall order since the best ships may require millions of resources per ship.

Not to mention, with titanium, you can even drastically enhance your base’s defenses with better starbase guns as well as augment it with additional defense mechanisms. There are other titanium-only buildings that a premium player can build and they can buy extra resources using titanium too. Honestly, free-to-play players might find themselves at a significant disadvantage in this game.

Nevertheless, there is a way for these players to earn some free titanium, that is by building Export Freighters. Every 10 freighters built can be exchanged for 1 titanium. It’ll take ages to get enough titanium to shift the game in your favor, but it’s still a feasible way to level the playing field... somewhat.

The titanium-related advantage aside, Astro Conquest also features a wide range of spaceships ranging from light frigates to heavy destroyers. Interestingly, the ships you build will automatically form fleets so it’s easier for you to order around, but don’t forget where you send your ships because it can be quite difficult for you to find them again without some titanium-aided help.

Not to mention, you can’t build spaceships in bulk even if you have the resources to do so. Instead, you are required to build the ships one by one... unless you are willing to spend titanium to purchase the Building Queue option which will allow you to repeat the construction of a certain ship for an X number of time. The cost you pay will depend on how many times you want.

Alliances in this game even seem to fall short of what they can actually do to enhance the gameplay and they do seem to lack a lot of helpful functions. Unless you’re in a good alliance, joining one might feel the same as not joining one.

The graphics in Astro Conquest can be very appealing, especially for the space enthusiast. The sound effects used in this game is brilliant as well. The soundtrack in Astro Conquest, on the other hand, is rather bad. This is probably why the music is muted by default when you first started up the game.

Admittedly, Astro Conquest looks and feels a lot more graphically-sophisticated than your average browser-based space sim. This is a game where you can actually control your own fleet of spaceships and capture starbases. However, at the end of the day, it’s painfully obvious that without titanium, you’ll likely end up being the underdog in the game. We would recommend you try the game just because it’s quite unique for a web-based game, but to stay and continue playing? Well, maybe not so much. Astro Conquest Summary
