Build your empire and amass a fearsome army

Battle other players via the Arena or the world map

Work with others and help each other out through guilds

Armor Valor is a brand new, browser MMO strategy game from R2 Games. Here, you’ll not only get to build your own empire from the ground up, but also recruit powerful heroes to lead your army, battle various mythical creatures, and even go head-to-head with your fellow players whether at the arena or on the world map. The game is social too, encouraging its players to team up and work together via guilds. Despite being freemium, the game is surprisingly generous with its rewards and even if you are a free-to-play player, you should be able to make good progress even if you don’t want to spend any real money into the game.

Armor Valor has a gameplay that is very similar to any other browser MMO strategy games (or SLGs) that you may have played before. You’ll start off with a pretty barebones city that you’ll need to develop over time. There are plenty of new buildings to unlock - once you reach a certain checkpoint in the game, that is. Every one of them have their own respective functions can be upgraded to not only improve their efficiency but also give you a nice power boost.

The focus here is to manage your resources well, both the raw materials you’ll need to recruit new troops or upgrade a building, as well as the speed-ups (the game calls them “Accelerators”) that you can use to speed up construction. If you scrimp and save, in addition to making sure you complete and collect as many bonuses as you can, you will be able to pretty easily get your Castle to level 6 or even 7.

Having a strong castle is one step towards world domination in this game; the other equally important part, however, consists of your heroes and your army. The game has a small but crucial RPG element where you can summon and recruit various heroes to lead your army. These heroes can be equipped with gear, which will be consumed whenever you “upgrade” them, and they can be leveled up using EXP items. You can even assign them to certain critical structures in the game to grant your city a nice little boost.

Let’s not forget about the main hero, the one you control and the one who oversees everything in the game, as well. Once you reach a certain stage in the game, you’ll get to forge various equipment from raw crafting materials earned from running dungeons and these items can then be equipped on your main avatar.

Of course, having a massive army helps a lot too in this game. There are 4 different types of units you can recruit in this game and they come in tiers. Naturally, to unlock higher tier units, you’ll need to complete the corresponding researches first.

In Armor Valor, there are two kinds of battles – one involving only your heroes and the other involves both your heroes and your army. There are Trials and Dragon Den, for instance, which are basically PvE dungeons for your heroes to run through, and for PvP, there’s the Arena. The might of your army won’t be factored in here. However, here’s a quick tip – as long as your heroes’ cumulative power rating is more than the enemies’, then you should be fine.

You’ll only need your army once you venture outside your castle walls and this is true for both PvE and PvP activities, which ranges from battling monsters and various creatures that roam the land (PvE) or invading other players’ castles or their captured mine.

Like other browser SLGs, Armor Valor is a fairly social game. Besides the usual chat system, you can team up with other players and help each other out via guilds. There are many perks that you’ll gain if you join a guild so it’s best to join one as soon as you can. For instance, you can help each other speed up construction, and you’ll get access to various guild features like the Guild Shop and Perks, where you can spend the tokens you get from donating gold to the guild. However, you should know that you can only donate to a guild after joining it for 24 hours. I think this is an anti-bot measure.

You can even create one of your own for free too if you fancy leading your own guild rather than joining others’. That being said, here’s a quick bit of advice – it’s best to join a more established guild first and only set up your own guild once you are much stronger.

Armor Valor has vibrant and colorful, mobile-like graphics that look appealing from the get-go. Love the Celtic-themed music in this game too. The game is designed to be a somewhat casual MMO to play and the atmosphere created in the game reflects that perfectly.

As a freemium game, Armor Valor has an in-game shop which sells a variety of boosts and items for diamonds (premium currency) or crystals (“premium” currency that you can earn in this game). The game also has a VIP system whereby the higher up the ranks you go, the more and better perks you’ll unlock. There are even cool skins that you can buy for your castle.

All in all, Armor Valor may not have a coherent-enough storyline to enjoy, but at least the game has some entertaining gameplay that will keep you hooked. The game is very generous with its rewards even for the free-to-play player and if you work hard, you can even get to higher VIP rank without spending a dime. Armor Valor is definitely a game worth playing especially if you’re into SLGs/ casual browser MMO strategy games in general. Armor Valor Summary
