There’s no doubting that most characters in Apex Legends have kits that are built around aggressive and tactical play and this is why Gibraltar is such a unique character to play is. Gibraltar is a character that’s built around playing defensively and capitalizing on opportunities when they come up so it can take a while to get used to the way he’s played but, once you’ve gotten the hang of him, you will be able to pull off some incredible feats in Apex Legends.

Gibraltar’s passive is a pretty big factor that allows him to take most fights without worry. The passive basically gives him a small shield whenever he aims down this sight and this shield can absorb at least 50 damage before being broken. 50 damage might not sound like a massive number but it’s the equivalent of two shield cells and this is, more often than not, enough to turn the tide of a battle in your favor. It’s worth mentioning, though, that the shield can make tracking distant targets a little challenging but, thankfully, there’s an option through which you can turn off the shield in order to get the maximum possible visibility so you can aim properly.

Gibraltar’s tactical ability is an incredibly powerful dome shield that’ll shield anyone inside it from all projectiles that come from outside it. Whenever you’re pinned down without cover and bullets are coming at you from every single direction, this is the ability that you’ll want to fall back on. The beauty of the dome shield is that there’s no limit to the damage it can take so you’ll be safe for as long as it lasts. It’s important to remember, though, that if someone manages to walk into the shield then you’ll be in trouble because it only stops projectiles from the outside. You can’t shoot outside the shield either so this is solely a defensive option.

Gibraltar is an artillery strike similar to Bangalore’s but the key difference here is that his is a more focused strike and, while it doesn’t cover as wide of an area as Bangalore’s barrage, it’s still absolutely devastating at the target point. Given the smaller area covered by this particular ability, it’s definitely better off used in defensive situations such as when your opponent has better positioning than you do because then you’ll be able to use this ability to flush your opponents out of cover and out into the open where you’ll have a significantly better chance of taking them down.

All said and done, while Gibraltar might not be the most fast-paced or aggression heavy character in Apex Legends, he’s still more than capable of winning games due to the array of defensive abilities he provides and we certainly hope that the aforementioned tips help you utilize him to great effect.
