Playing multiplayer online battle arenas exposes you to a diverse community. There are so many games out there, and equally numerous gamers make up their respective communities. MOBAs are worlds unto themselves, so you can expect to find various personalities all brought together by a common interest in the game.

Now, there are many ways that you can group players in first person shooter (FPS) games. In this article, however, we’ll just need to discuss the types of players according to their specializations in the game. Fortunately, whether you’re playing Cross Fire or Global Strike on Facebook, the groupings roughly remain the same.

So, without further adieu, let’s dive into the specializations players can take in FPS games.

First, you have the front-line grunts. These are the people who prefer to use the “get down and dirty” kind of weapons in FPS games. They are also the ones who typically volunteer (if it’s a team effort) to get to the front line to face the leading elements of the opposing force. Because they are typically the ones who mix it up first with the opponents, they usually arm themselves with assault-oriented weapons like the HK5 submachine gun or the assault shotguns. However, they could also be seen using knives and sidearms often as well.

Second group are the support teams. These people usually hang back behind the front line grunts during matches. That is because they are most often found using ranged weapons like sniper rifles or scoped automatic guns like assault rifles that have been fitted with scopes like the ACOG or Red Dot sight in Call of Duty games.

The third group is made up of the ones that are usually tasked with carrying out the actual mission. They are tasked frequently to plant bombs, like the Terrorist faction in Counterstrike, or to defuse those bombs as the opposing force. They usually like to arm themselves with weapons similar to the arsenal of the front-line grunts, as they often work close together.

Finally, we have the unique group that seems to love bringing in the heavy guns to a match. They have awesome firepower because they like to arm themselves with heavy machine guns, or rocket launchers in a match. However, because of their weapons, they are usually slower moving because of the weight of their armament. They are often left behind in the base to guard against invasions.

The thing about FPS games is that there are no cut-and-dried rules about what you want to be. You have full freedom to choose the weapons you will be taking to a match, and according to your own preferences. The only exception to this is when you enter matches that require you only to carry specific weapons, but you have full freedom to decide whether or not to join those matches.

FPS games are fun. You don’t need to develop special skills to play them, so you can, even right now, start playing one. With the information in this article, you could decide easily on what your specialization is because you have an idea what’s in store for you in the game.
